Sledding hills, snowshoeing, local ski recs, hot springs, and cozy winter evenings by the fire.
Winter is full of adventurous activities in the Rockies! From skiing and snowboarding to sledding and snow shoeing there's something for everyone! I’ll even give you my best suggestion for Apres Ski spots in Breck!

Chuck Wagon Rides Step back in time with a mule team on sleds and a hot cocoa! This is a fantastic opportunity for little ones or those looking for a less strenuous outdoor activity. Bundle up but blankets are provided. This is something that has to be reserved in advance so don’t forget to book your space!
Frisco Adventure Park If you’re wanting more than sledding on the property with our provided sleds then Frisco Adventure Center is the best tubing around! You have to book in advance but its a great time for all ages!
Breckenridge Nordic Center If you love Cross country skiing then this is the best place to go, they rent the gear on site too! They also have snowshoeing and snowcat adventures!
Good Times Adventures For snowmobiling I would recommend this outfit in Breckenridge. I often get asked for snowmobiling, I haven't used them personally but they come highly recommended by some other local hosts who have used with them!
Mt. Princeton Hot Springs This is about an hour's drive from the cabin so would be a lovely day trip. It’s also a great spot for kids! There are of course adult only zones as well. I think this is the best option as driving to Glenwood Springs is much farther and in my opinion a less nice facility. If you’re planning on exploring Vail already then this would be a natural fit to wrap into that trip but it is still quite a commitment.
Ice Skating at Peak 8 Grande Colorado In the winter they have an Ice Skating Rink its a great place to take kids and grab a cup of Cocoa.
Winter Events
Ullr Fest This is one of the most anticipated winter festivals in the area. Usually held the third week of December (each year varies slightly). Ullr is the god of snow/winter in the old Norse beliefs. Breck throws a festival in his honor to pray for a long snow season. All walks of life gather for a fun filled day out and there are very long shot-skis and plenty of folks dressed up!
Santa Race and Breck X-mas Lights on The town lights get turned on and Santas come from all around for a winter race dressed like Ol’ St. Nick. They even have a dog parade for our furry friends!
International Ice Sculpture Competition Teams from all over the world come together to create temporary works of art! The competition takes place in January but the sculptures stick around longer for everyone to enjoy!
Best Apres Ski
Outer Range Brewery This has been voted the best Apres Ski Spot in the area multiple times. We love supporting them and have even been to their sister Brewery in the French Alps! The beer is delicious, the fried chicken is amazing and they always have fun themes or pop-up events going on that support local Colorado small businesses and artisans. We were lucky enough to host their Corporate Work Retreat last year which was such an honor.
RMU A younger crowd with a bar and good music. If you’re an introvert it’s not the place for you. Think of a mountain bar/club where people are dressed for the slopes and wanting to party with friends. If you're staying with us for a girls or guys trip and like to party this is a great spot for you.
