Best Family-Friendly Restaurants Near Breckenridge + Alma

Here are my quick hot takes on places to eat and drink close by in the Alma/Fairplay area or over the pass when in Breckenridge. Since this is our family cabin we do spend a lot of time here and have been so lucky to forge relationships with the locals who keep these towns alive year round! Having skied Breckenridge Mountain loads of times we have also spent a good amount of time in the ski town as well. I spill the beans on my take of coffee in Breck and where you should go, what I think are family or date night options and helpful hints on parking.

For Breakfast

Bristlecone Bakeshop & Black Kettle Coffee Shop A perfect match! Get your morning pastries and an extra loaf of bread fresh from the local baker then cross the street for a beverage of your choice. If you’re going on a hike or headed out of town the coffee shop has a great selection of Colorado made snacks to go or gift. 

For Lunch

Otto’s Food Cart Alma or Fairplay Colorado renowned fried chicken sandwiches with a varied menu. They run seasonal specials but my favorite is the Fried Chicken BLT with a side of Cajun Fries.

JR’s Pizza Place Awesome wood fired pizza to take away, don’t forget to pop into Highside Brewery for some beers to go too!

For Dinner

Salon Mexico in Fairplay Great for takeaway or dining in. Reasonably priced, family friendly and tasty!

South Park Saloon in Alma More of a going out spot with great drinks, fun atmosphere, and a nice menu. Parking can be a challenge so if you can’t find a spot park at the town hall and walk up to the saloon.

Best Family-Friendly Restaurants Near Breckenridge

For Breakfast Baretto 1931 Upscale coffee shop doing authentic bespoke coffee. This is the best coffee in Breck, I find every other coffee shop in towns cappuccinos to be really milk heavy and more like a latte than a cappuccino. 

Crepes a la Cart Great crepes horrible wait. Go early but there will likely be a line. To us it’s worth it because we think they are delicious, its our favorite breakfast in Breck.

For Lunch

Bird and Cow Prides themselves on using high quality ingredients that support local farmers. Great american classics menu and perfect for kids. They source local beef from the Fairplay area by us, Eagle Rock Ranch Co. 

For Dinner

Rootstalk Fine dining spot, not great for families but great for a special occasion/date night. Be sure to make a reservation!

Tin Plate Pizza Family friendly and a good menu variety specializing in pizza. It's in a cool restored building.
